A JSON viewer that keeps your data local

JSON Grove is a free online JSON viewer and formatter for developers, students, and anyone working with structured data. Paste or open a JSON file to explore objects and arrays in a collapsible tree, search for a key or value, and copy neatly formatted JSON when you need it.

The viewer processes your JSON in your browser. Your input is not uploaded to JSON Grove, so you can inspect API responses, configuration files, and sample data without sending their contents to a server.

How to use the JSON viewer

  1. Paste JSON into the input panel, or choose Open file to load a local .json file.
  2. Select View JSON to validate the input and display its tree.
  3. Expand a branch or search for a key or value. Use Format to pretty-print the JSON, or copy the formatted result.

What is JSON?

JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a text format for representing structured data. It uses objects, arrays, strings, numbers, booleans, and null values, and is commonly used by web APIs and configuration files. A JSON viewer makes nested data easier to browse than a long block of text.

Common questions

Is this JSON viewer free?

Yes. You can view, search, format, and copy JSON without creating an account.

Does JSON Grove upload my JSON?

No. JSON parsing and tree display happen in your browser; the JSON you enter is not sent to our server.

Can I open a JSON file?

Yes. Choose Open file and select a local .json or .txt file, then select View JSON.

Why is my JSON invalid?

JSON requires double-quoted property names and strings, commas between items, and matching braces and brackets. When possible, the viewer shows the line and column near the parse error.
